My invisible fence is beeping?

If you find you're transmitter is beeping it is most likely that there is a break in the underground wire.First i would unplug it for about 5 minuets you may need to disconnect the battery as well. After five minuets plug it back in if the beeping continues it is a break. There is a small chance it could be electronic damage inside the transmitter due to storm damage but 99% of the time it's a break. Some breaks are easy to find just by looking in the place that would make the most sense say like where the garden is edged or if you just planted a bush.

If the invisible fence beeping started after a storm it still may not be a damaged transmitter it may be a fault from the wet ground the best way to test this is to pull the pair of wires out of the transmitter and put in a small loop of wire into the same 2 slots you removed the pair from. If you don't have a small piece of wire you can pull the paper off the ends of a bread tie and use it. If the invisible fence transmitter stops it is in fact a break in the underground wire.

A repair from invisible fence is costly and to locate the break is not that difficult in most cases. A underground wire break locator will make things easy you can find one at amazon.com it is made by Petsafe and will work with any dog fence with underground wire it works well for the price and will save you cash with the first use as the average price for a repair from the pro's will average $125+ per visit. You can also get the underground splice kit from amazon.

If you have any questions post it and I will be happy to help. I have 15+ years in the pet fence biz..

Here is a video How to find a break in a underground Invisible Fence.

  4. I inherited an invisible fence when I purchased a new home, it was beeping so I found and repaired them all and the beeping stopped. It has now started to beep again, but the beep is different. Before it was a constant beeping, now it is a single long beep every minute or so. The fence is still working and I can't locate any breaks, do you know what the different beep codes are?

  6. My fence beeps while my sprinkler system starts beeping when there has been rain or when my sprinkler system has activated. Only way to fix it is to unplug for a few seconds then plug back in. Isn't a problem if I'm home, but when I'm at work, the dogs know they can dig out without fence correcting them. My last one did the same thing, and I purchased this one. Tired of having to buy a new one every couple of years! Any ideas?

  7. If the invisible fence start beeping when it gets wet after a rain you have a partial break,, more then likely it is a bad connection. If you repaired your fence with tape in the past i would look there first.

    1. Mine did the same thing after snow storm after snow storm and the ground was frozen solid, so no way to fix it. Rigged up the transmitted wires to a 50' long extension cord then got 500' of insulated wire from Home Depot and made a quick n dirty new loop in the back yard on top of the snow and retrained the dog for the smaller area. it was a pain cause every new snow storm had to pull up the extension cord so it wouldn't get caught in the snow blower. Now that the snow is gone, found an old break that was taped up, the water got in there and the copper corroded, fixed it and its all good.

  9. I have just started house sitting for a couple with an invisible fence system. the dog has started soiling the carpet and I realised that the collar he is wearing is malfunctioning and beeping at him every time he goes near the door / the dog flap. He's now too scared to go outside. I don't know much about this system and would really appreciate any help / suggestions please (Am getting kinda nervous about their carpet and the poor dog - he's scared stiff).

  10. My invisible fence beeps intermittently. It will work perfectly fine for days and them ot won't for days. Lately it beeps virtually all the time but from time to time it will work for an hour or two, or a minute or two and then not all all. No break in a wire. No right angled. Could it be the collar battery doing this? What else could possibly cause the highly intermittent problem?

  11. The fence works great but, the collar won't beep to let my dog know that she is getting too close to the fence. We changed the batteries in the collar and the batteries are new and it still won't beep. Can you tell me what is wrong with the collar?

  12. I have a problem with my YardMax system beeping intermittently. It seems like there could be a partial break, or the unit might be faulty. My fence is probably 1500' long through the woods. Is there a way to locate a partial break. I have had complete breaks and located them easily. Not sure how to find a partial break.

  13. just had the fence beeping. i thought it was a break, but it turns out that it was a bad backup battery. Had I known that was an option i would have just disconnected it. I believe it's about $140, including the visit, to have it replaced. At least the beeping stopped.

As people have posted, I've had a break in the wire before and it was the same beep, which is why i thought it was the wire again.

So, if your fence is beeping, do the tests described above. You can also just take the collar and see if it's working when you get close to the wire. I didn't test this as I thought it was a break in the wire. Next time I'll test first and won't just react to the beeps.

  14. HI,I recently had a vey bad wind storm over 75 mph winds.Power went our for 24hours.I tree fell directly over the dog wire area.My unit is beeping steady every second.led on unit is red.If I press one of the two small buttons under the plastic panel on lower right side of the board it stops the beeping.Im guessing the tree broke into the wire, but I first assumed it was due to the battery backup kicking in and in need of resetting. What do ya think it is? I'm gonna try a jump wire in place of the two fence wires see if there is a break but would like your advice as well.I don't really know what I'm doing other than reading a lot of different things.thanks so much,Tony G

  15. that it can survive such damp extremes. If left alone, unstained and unmaintained the northern white cedar fence boards should see a lifespan of 20 years. If well maintained, stained and cared for - a consumer could easily extend the life the fence to 30 years. Fence Cost

My transmitter got hit by lighting and or had a surge and it doesn't work. I called the Customer service line. They diagnosed it and indeed the transmitter got hit. No questions asked pretty much accept my address so they could send me out a replacement transmitter. Great Customer service.
